Week 6 Meditation:
IN THIS LESSON
JOURNAL PROMPT: WEEK 6
The spiritual activist Andrew Harvey proposes that we each “follow our heartbreak” in life. That is, if we feel a bit lost or stuck with regards to our sense of direction or life purpose, we might want to look at what we’ve had to endure and recover from and consider being of help in some way to people who are affected by the same things or stuck in similar ways. After all, should we choose to work with such people, we’d most likely already have insider knowledge and language, natural empathy, and a passion for helping that can’t be taught.
Without going into details or digging up difficult memories, reflect on the generalities of what you have survived in this life. Consider that many have struggled and are still struggling with similar situations.
In an ideal world where you didn’t have to worry about things like salary and time and mobility, how would you follow your heartbreak? What would you love to do to help others in these situations? What’s one talent or skill you already have that you could bring to the table? How would your life be different? How would your life feel different?
